Isolated workspace

There are many schools that make little and inefficient use of IT.

Students are put behind the computer in `spare` moments, and the work they perform is not or barely monitored. Results are often not used. A major reason is the limited presence of computers. Most classrooms have only one or two computers, and because of that, not all students get their daily turn. On top of that, computers are usually placed in the least favorable position, against a wall within the classroom. Students that will work with a computer are often faced towards the wall; working with a computer becomes thus an isolated activity. Even though more and more schools create multimedia classrooms, the lack of space for enough computers in a regular classroom remains a problem. Individually and adaptive working and learning using one computer per student at any moment seems out of reach. Using laptops is no real solution, as they are prone to theft and very vulnerable.
